Role overview

We are seeking dynamic, detail-oriented Project Research Associates to join our growing team. There are roles for multiple associates in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Mozambique. You will support the planning, development, and execution of agribusiness projects by conducting in-depth research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement across multiple African markets.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct market, sector, and value chain research relevant to Aspuna’s agribusiness projects.
  • Gather, analyse, and synthesise data from diverse sources (primary and secondary).
  • Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support project teams with on-the-ground research, stakeholder mapping, and due diligence activities.
  • Engage with local partners, government agencies, and community organisations in both English and Portuguese.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals and funding applications.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Business, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English and, for Mozambique, Portuguese (required).
  • Fluency in the local language (required).
  • Demonstrated experience in research, data collection, and analysis (preferably in agribusiness, development, or related sectors).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural, remote team.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and online research tools.
  • Passion for social impact and sustainable development.
